Legend of the Sierra Madre

             Far across the valley,
Los Pobres lay hot and uneventful under the sun.

Trouble craved rest.  Solitude.  A drink from his spring.

        The pond

But solitude was the last thing Destino had in store for him.

      Juanita

                                              In a game of cards,
Trouble suspected the wrong accomplice.

"They are not going to hunt horses."

"Come back safe, Trouble,"  she said.
     The mustangers rode through grasslands,
                                                                                                   cactus and thorn forest.

     When he parted the willows,

 there was the stallion.
And in Los Pobres.....

Juanita sat on the flat-topped trunk, watching the north road.

But Trouble was not among the returning mustangers.

The farther north they went, the stronger her fears became.

In the distance rose a great sand storm.

a great cloud of blowing sand

"You cannot expect to find him in this Godforsaken place."

El Catedral reared its dark silhouette into the pale sky.
